This page contains information about Linux in a question-and-answer format.  If you have a question for me to add, please contact me.

What is Linux?
Linux is an awesome (and usually free!) operating system.

To find out which distribution is best for you, try out the
Linux Distribution Chooser.

Isn't it hard to use?
While Linux used to be somewhat difficult to install for the average user, many distributions have an easy-to-use graphical installation process.

Just about every major distribution ("distro") of Linux has a support forum, so look there for any questions or problems you may encounter.

Can I test it without installing it?
Most distributions have what is called a "LiveCD" that you can boot from. You just have to put the CD in, reboot your computer, and make sure that your computer is configured to boot from the CD drive before the hard drive.  It then runs and looks like it is installed.  Please keep in mind that it will not be as fast as if it were installed, but it helps you choose between distributions.

You can even have free
Ubuntu or Kubuntu CDs shipped to you.
